Basic Outline of sidebet rules / how to play

Dueling for Dollars is a war style game played with a five, six, or eight standard 52-card decks. At the beginning of each game, the player must place a Play wager on either the player hand or the dealer hand. In addition, the player may optionally place a Tie Bonus wager or a Two Card Poker Bonus ("Combo Bet”) wager.

After all wagers are placed, each player and the dealer receive one card, face-up. Each player card is compared to the dealer card.

In the standard version of the game, the player may only wager his player-position card to win; in an alternative version, the player may select to wager on either the “Dealer” or the “Player” to win with the better card.

  • If the value of the player card is higher than the dealer card, all Play wagers made on the player hand are paid 1 to 1, and all Play wagers made on the dealer hand lose.
  • If the value of the dealer card is higher than the player card, all Play wagers made on the dealer hand will be paid 1 to 1, and all Play wagers made on the player hand lose.
  • If the player card and the dealer card have the same value, then the player must decide to either surrender, forfeiting half of their Play wager, or "Go to War".
    • If a player decides to "Go to War", they must place a Raise wager equal to the original Play wager.

The dealer then deals an additional card to both the player and the dealer.

  • If the value of the player card is equal to or greater than the value of the dealer card and the Play wager was made on the player hand, the Raise wager will be paid 1 to 1 and the Play wager will push.
  • If the Play wager was made on the dealer hand, both wagers are lost.
  • If the value of the dealer card is equal to or greater than the value of the player card and the Play wager was made on the dealer hand, the Raise wager will be paid 1 to 1 and the Play wager will push, while if the Play wager was made on the player hand, both wagers are lost.

Usual Odds Paid:

The Tie Bonus wins if the player and dealer cards tie, thus forming a pair on the first round of play. The wager is paid in according to the Tie Bonus Pay Table (there are three possible pay tables, PT1 – PT3).
